BENJAMIN, JONATHAN |
✖ NHD-A10-BNJ-131 ✖ Blue Team originally, moved to Red officially on Day 45 ✖ benjamin.jonathan@cdc.org ✖ PLACE OF ORIGIN & SPECIES: Earth (Shiloh, Gilboa) | Human ✖ DIET: Omnivore ✖ NOTABLE SKILL SET/S: Combat, marksmanship, militant and political strategy, leadership, legal prosecution. ✖ BACKGROUND: Jonathan 'Jack' Benjamin is Crown Prince of Gilboa, a powerful nation under an absolute monarchy based on Earth, and born second to Silas and Rose Benjamin (twin sister 'Michelle' four minutes his elder). Ranked Major in the Gilboan national army, Benjamin has served tours on the front of the recently ended war with Gath, and is currently assigned to an intelligence post within the capitol city of Shiloh. A recent coup orchestrated by William Cross, Benjamin's uncle, saw a failed assassination on King Silas, and Benjamin attempted to usurp the throne despite reports of his father's survival. A failed attempt, he was stripped of title and rights, and was privately disgraced and sentenced to produce a replacement heir for King Silas Benjamin, to be raised "right this time" by the King. ✖ CHARACTER ASSESSMENT: Dangerously ambitious, manipulative, sly and dishonest when it serves him. Frank to the point of emotional harm when it does not. An emotionally unstable young man, carrying bitterness, jealousy and a want for revenge for sacrifices made to appease his father. Pragmatic, cold and detached, Benjamin makes a point to place what is best for his future interest of circumstance over what he desires or imagines will make him contented in life (romantic interests and orientation, moral and ethical integrity, notions of friendship or close relation), believing it secondary to building himself as a better, more valuable, whole. He is prone to addiction, self-destruction and insecurities that fuel a need to prove himself while concealing percieved personal failures and flaws. Despite his condemnation of his father, most of Silas Benjamin's beliefs and philosophies have been cemented in Jonathan's psyche. ✖ ( VIEW FULL PROFILE ) |

❚❚❚❚❚ IC.■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Sure, but as a rule on reciprocation or Jack's reaction to it, generally, if Jack hasn't voluntarily touched you, it's probably not a great idea to touch him if you're expecting anything reciprocating. He might even just dead-eye you until you let him go, depending on who it is. For real, dude doesn't even hug his own mother back. People currently able to get reciprocating positive contact from him: Hanna Talbot, Clary Fray, d'Artagnan, Fiona. Casual hook-ups will have positive contact during, obv, but it'll cease after the fact. TOUCHING HIS SPINE IS A BAD IDEA. He was pretty brutally tortured for seeeeveral hours/close to a day, not very long back, and it involved breaking every vertebrea in his spine one at a time, and he had to remain conscious for it, and ended up paralyzed and confused for a while too so. As a general rule, you probably don't want your character touching his spine (back is still iffy but he can deal, he'll just jerk away), unless they want to be punched, shoved or pistol whipped. :|b |

❚❚❚❚❚ LANGUAGE.■ BIBLICAL HEBREW: As a note on the language Jack natively speaks, I've been doing ranting plurks about trying to figure this out since the beginning of this gd game. THIS IS THE ISSUE. Kings is a modernization of a biblical story, with real, biblical geographic places within it (not exactly where and what they should be (i.e., instead of just a mountain "Gilboa" is a country)), and there is no England or America, therefore, despite the fact that the show is done in English with American accents, they don't actually speak English, considering English wouldn't be a thing. BUT, the name of the language they speak isn't actually said in canon at all. So, if we're going on the biblical side of things, they should speak Biblical Hebrew, which is a dialect that is ancient and dead and extinct, but at the same time it's liiiiiike, idk, you could go any which way with it because it's a modernized AU of the bible vdskfjdlfdas SO. AFTER MUCH DEBATE, AND THIS PLURK HERE, I decided that having 'English That Isn't Actually Called English' didn't work for threading things where Jack had to actually say what language he spoke. So I've decided that what Jack speaks is basically Biblical Hebrew, with some modernization in it, and that fits more with the theme of the show and actually gives me something solid he can SAY instead of having to work around it awkwardly. |
