I don't know what you are." { jack still doesn't really understand david, but spoilers, that's probably never going to change, which is what makes david such a fixation for jack. he has such a deep admiration for his character and awe of him, and at the same time, desperately wants to be able to figure david out and how to navigate him (or control him, which, as much as jack doesn't want to admit, is something he quietly decides about everyone he knows, friends included). he's in awe of david's nobility, his integrity, his ability to stay david, and he'll always look to david as the end all opinion on existentialism and spirituality and morality. at the same time, he's frustrated with him endlessly, because of how much jack feels he can't be like him, and for how uh difficult david can be? because of how noble and stalwart on his integrity he is. jack both never wants that to change about david and also wants david to be more reasonable at times. jack's everything about david is forever in conflict, but more so than anything else, david is important to him, and to the world they came from. he genuinely cares about getting david back to his home and back to doing what he believes in, even if jack knows that'll destroy him in the end. his loyalty to david is absurd, as is his commitment to get back into david's good graces, after their falling out. except for the part where lmao jack doesn't really know how. so that's frustrating too. in other news, jack is now willing to admit that david shepherd is attractive. not to david shepherd's face, though. as for feelings, people have brought it up to jack a lot and he typically gives them the 'he probably slept with my sister, this is weird' and drops it. it has actually been thrown around in jack's head - having romantic feelings for david - and he remembers the moment in unity hall when he'd hugged him and talked about ruling by david's example, and considers that that... might... be something... but is also something that is completely impossible, due to who david is, the fact that jack isn't anywhere near the kind of person that should be with david, and the whole michelle part and david isn't into dudes. he has, however, noticed that it's odd how hard he takes things from david as opposed to from others that are important to him, and how much it sticks with him when he feels like he's let david down. it's something he tries not to linger on. } |

Thankfully he has people willing to watch out for him. { jack is grossly, stupidly, embarrassingly fond of d'artagnan. he's been a close friend to jack since the beginning of the game, and been loyal to jack and stood close by him through all of jack's moods to a point that jack can hardly understand. he is gradually learning How To Friend through his relationship with d'artagnan, and it's been trying, but d'artagnan has been there enough for him, and been such a solid pillar of support for jack that he genuinely wants to be a friend d'artagnan deserves. it terrifies him to think that d'artagnan might go away someday and jack will never see him again. d'art and hanna were the first friends jack ever had and he's so panicky about losing people. d'artagnan is also the prime person jack goes to when he's losing his shit, becuase he has an uncanny sort of empathy and knowledge of what exactly to do to help jack calm down, despite jack saying nothing to him about it. also, he holds his hand. it's nice. jack has a bit of a crush of d'artagnan that he will never ever be saying anything about. crush beyond 'i would tap that', and d'artagnan is pretty much the only one in cdc that really has that from jack. } |

She's a woman with a destiny, and I wish her and her betrothed all the happiness they can be afforded. { Alina is someone sort of special to Jack, mostly for how she's reacted to him and how she's expressed more care and concern for him that she actually needs to. Now, other people have done that for him as well, but the difference is that Alina isn't the type to be cuddly and smothering like a lot of people who express concern are, thus, Jack doesn't think she's full of shit. He doesn't think she's looking out for him just for the fact that it's The Right Thing To Do either, and it's just consequiently that that person in need happens to be Jack. He tends to be incredibly suspicious of people and their motives and the sincerity of their intentions, and Alina passes that in his mind. She's also not easy on him, and she's honest and straight forward, and he appreciates that. On the flip side of it, while Alina is strong and serious like that, she's also very gentle in times, like her thing with Sturmhond and how she talks to Jack about it. It's something very subtle and unassuming in her, not greatly exagerrated and recognized by a lot of people, so it also feels more sincere to him. He likes that he has that connection with her and that she's comfortable talking to him about frivolous things like that. He is a lot more thrilled about getting to go to her wedding than he lets on. } |

He knows the man likely doesn't need or want it, but if someone were to threaten, or really, even shit-talk Adrien in Jack's vicinity, they'd have a gun in their face so very fast. all that said, jack is completely oblivious for the feelings adrien came to develop for him, which is likely for the best, considering jack doesn't handle Feelings very well. it's perplexed him some that adrien isn't interested in carry on their fuck buddy thing, but he decidedly doesn't push it. that's the point of casual to jack - when you want to, you do, and when you don't, you don't. no questions asked otherwise. it changes nothing about his opinion of the man, though jack does feel a sort of concern that he'd offended him somehow. yet, is too chicken shit to comment on it. } |

He'd also found Steve to be very amusing in his own right, with an entertaining personality and someone easy to interact with and be around. Jack had put good amount of stock in Steve's opinions on things, and had genuinely sort of wanted to avoid making his disappointed, see: the situation with Topher's unattended alcohol. Most people would get the finger for frowning at Jack for suggesting he'd steal it. Steve he respected enough to actually not do the thing. So, in his weird sort of Jack way where he is approval starved and all that, and trusts other people with morally responsible choices more than he trusts himself, he does have an immense amount of respect for Steve. EVEN NOW THAT HE HAS COMPLETELY FUCKED ANY CHANCE OF GETTING HIS METAPHORICAL HEADPATS OR WHATEVER IDEK, he still thinks Steve is a better man than most here, and his avoidance of him isn't just for the sake of not walking into annoying conflict, but also a good measure of shame for Being Who He Is and Steve now being pretty well aware of how gross that person is. :| } |

Thanks for the plant. { Respects her most out of all the instructors, still feels largely loyal to Gliese and Blue team, but will follow whatever Dagger orders regardless. He genuinely likes her, and finds her company and conversation sort of peaceful in a way. A lot has gone on with Gliese as of late, and Jack regards her as oddly maternal, though doesn't really admit to that himself. She's comforting in a way she probably shouldn't be to him, but Jack's always been very weird about these things. However, for a decent long while after the torture session, Jack's going to have a lot of difficulty being physically near Gliese. Speaking on the blackglass is the same, and no issue, but being in her presence will be far too nervous wracking and triggering for him, for the time being. That said, Jack holds no resentment towards Gliese for what happened, and is actually sort of appreciative towards her for all the warning she gave him and kind words to try to help him prepare and endure it. Much of the advice Gliese gives him, about what you must do to protect someone, about not allowing doubts, and many other things, Jack tends to take very much to heart and stir over in his mind. It's odd, because some things that come from him are very easily true and spoken in a frank and honest way that Jack appreciates more than anything else, but Jack is also having to doubt a lot of the other things, just for the fact that Dagger is sketchy as all fuck. And crazy. But there's a lot of Dagger's general personality that Jack respects, from his focus on the mission, to his understanding for doing whatever is necessary to keep the crew and officers safe, to hi very straight forward and simplidied outlook on a lot of things.
