A brain is essentially an extremely complex computer. If you know the science, you can make it do anything you want.

We don't know. The only thing that came from home was a file on him, but I don't remember seeing anything about the code words in it. Someone must have figured it out from there.

He needs to commit suicide? Really?
Because that's what cryo would be for him if they don't find a way to fix him at home too.
I'd figured you'd know better than anyone being tortured wasn't his fault, nor is it something he should have a death sentence for.

[ jack wants to tell him he'd thought he'd been willing to let bucky kill another seventy-odd people without batting an eye if it meant getting to keep him, up until the point john murphy was one of them. seventy-odd strangers, maybe, but he'd just seen one of the people he cares for most in every universe there is try to rip apart one of the other maybe two that match the same rank. bucky barnes, john murphy, steve rogers. they are not expendable to him, ever. let everyone else in this world and beyond croak, so long as he keeps them.

but that's the kind of psychotic logic that leads people to say things like 'i don't really believe that' when you make claims to care for them. the sad truth is that jack doesn't have it in him to be that honest, and he's too big of a fucking coward to be so transparent. maybe he doesn't even have a right to say it, when he didn't immediately go for the headshot on the soldier when he had the chance.

after all, jack lies so goddamn well he's can't even figure out what's still truth inside his head on a regular enough basis anymore. so who is he to say murphy's wrong for doubting it? ]
