[ As far as he knows it's probably lost in paperwork somewhere. But in either case, he needs to train with the plasma shooter, and in the case that the EM fields fluctuate, he'll need to learn how to actually do that. The sniping thing. Maybe some general shooting things. ]
[ when the internal magazine runs dry, jack's ducking back behind one of the crates to reload, feeding shells into it as he talks, a laugh coming first. ]
I'm baseline; can't do the magic box moving things, or set myself on fire or anything. It'll be a little outmatched.
[ jack won't be able to keep up with the shit erik can take. even if dagger did give the self-esteem boost in being capable of assassinate a good number of hard hitters that were desenting on his hit list, that's something that takes planning. not a fast action training simulation. ]
[ jack snorts, thinking Erik hasn't met half of camp yet and the very high level of formidable some of them are. but exact skills, no. some skills, outside of what's basic human practice, would likely benefit him more.
but if he's not going to worry about it, that's his problem. jack's not going to sit here arguing with him. ]
If you say so. But let's survive Ajna biting the dust first before we plot out our simulator vacation. [ almost said crewship honeymoon. would have, if he hadn't been very recently reminded of who it is in Ajna now and how much they can't know certain things about him. How much Jack can't just be himself anymore.fun as the three or so month break had been. ]
[ jack watches the sharp smile erik gives, snorting a laugh for a second, lips half pulled into a smile as he shakes his head. this guy is weird, but doesn't seem too bad.
'yeah yeah' is muttered, before he risks a glance over the crate, taking a quick inventory of what's going on out there. there seems to be one of the nests nearby, buried down in a cave sort of thing, and several shai fly in and out of it, rocketing past to speed towards the bridge still active in the sky. welp, jack's spent all his bombs, and didn't have a lot of room to carry in the first place, so what he tugs out is a green flare, pops off the cap that lights it, and whistles a jaunty tune while he tosses it down into the cave. as expected, there's a lot of screeching, before shai come zooming out, and jack takes to it like Duck Hunter, picking them off as they go. hopefully the flare lights the nest on fire too. that'd be nice. ]
Jack Benjamin, by the way. [ called out once he's got several good shots in. because knowing his name might be a good idea if he's planning on finding him later to play simulator training.
[ Erik seems to catch onto what Jack is attempting and, without looking too much like he's doing it, drags the flare around inside the nest to try and hit something flammable.
He does let a spray of vomit get too close and uses the flat side of some scrap as a makeshift shield, which really only serves to make the splatter unbearably gross and then he pushes the offending Shai with it, which is absolutely the most disgusting thing he's done all day. ]
Erik Lehnsherr.
[ He opens his mouth and then closes it to shoot a couple of the Shai away that are coming toward him, and he does silently admit Jack is definitely disposing of the Shai more efficiently, and steels himself into looking a little more serious, but not before he says: ]

Training simulations are better with two people.
[ Then he can set it on a harder level... ]

[ He's actually impressed he found someone else who can manipulate metal, but he's going to assume she's not an assassin. ]
And I'm trusting you to watch my back just fine.

[ And there it is, his razor-sharp smile, as he goes on to face danger. He's so attuned to the violence; he's really in his element.
At the same time, he questions what he's doing here.
It's so much easier, on the ship, to fight a simulation rather than a species trying to protect its planet.
But Jack is right. First, they need to survive. ]

WOW were they really not introduced oops...
